Bainbridge, GA (September 19, 2019) – Early Sunday morning, a pedestrian accident involving a hit-and-run driver took place on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Bainbridge.
When police responded to the scene of the accident, they found a woman who had been struck by a vehicle and had a compound fracture in her leg. The vehicle that struck her had not stayed at the scene of the accident.
The victim told officers that she had been walking down MLK Jr. drive when a vehicle suddenly struck her from behind. She was immediately taken for treatment at the hospital.
Police found broken bits of a mirror at the scene, which had a serial number located on it. They were able to match the vehicle to the owner, a 39-year-old man.
When police attempted to make an arrest later on, the suspect rammed into two police vehicles before surrendering. Police claim that charges are pending and their investigation is ongoing at this time.
