Rome, GA – 1 Critically Injured in Wreck on Black’s Bluff Rd

Rome, GA (September 02, 2019) – One person has been critically injured as the result of a wreck in the 4600 block of Black’s Bluff Road. The incident is currently under investigation by  Floyd County Police.

According to initial reports,  a 1991 GMC Sonoma was driving eastbound on Black’s Bluff Road, near where it connects to Boyd Road. Riding on the hood of the GMC was Matthew Arriaza, 21, of Euharlee. For reasons that have yet to be determined, the driver, Josh McVaney, 24, of Rome, lost control of the vehicle. This caused the GMC to swerve off of the woody, two-lane road and slam headfirst into a tree.

Arriaza was thrown clear of the vehicle and, luckily, only sustained relatively minor injuries. A passenger inside the truck, Montavious Rowland, 23, of Cave Spring, received a serious head injury during the collision. Rowland was flown by medical helicopter from the scene to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. He is currently listed in critical condition.

Fincher said both McVaney and Rowland were taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment of injuries that were classified as non-life-threatening.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim, Mr. Montavious Rowland, and his family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.

Passenger Injuries in Rome

Rome, GA - 1 Critically Injured in Wreck on Black's Bluff Rd

Passengers who sustain injuries in a car accident have rights that are protected by Georgia personal injury law. Passengers are not considered to be responsible for their accident-related injuries unless they chose to get in the car with a driver they knew to be drunk. For this reason, passengers who sustain accident-related injuries are typically entitled to full financial compensation.

Even though the law states that a passenger “can do no wrong,” it is still a smart move to have a Georgia car accident passenger injury attorney in your corner. Insurance companies low-ball claims as part of their regular business practice. The first offer you receive from them is not going to be their best offer by a long shot. They might also try to deny you the recovery of any of your non-economic losses, like your pain and suffering. On top of all of this, you might also have to work with more than one insurance carrier in an effort to receive the financial compensation you need to heal and put this matter behind you.

If you or someone you love has been injured as a passenger in a car accident, then you need to retain the legal services of a licensed, qualified personal injury attorney just as soon as you are able. Here at the law offices of Kenneth S. Nugent, PC, we are able to help you fight for the financial compensation for lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering to which you are entitled under Georgia law.
