Athens, GA (September 11, 2019) – Around 6:40 a.m. on Monday morning, September 9, police claim that one person was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash at Newton Bridge Road.
Police claim that the man from Dallas, Texas, was tragically struck by a vehicle. The 34-year-old truck driver was attempting to make a delivery to the Terrapin Brewery at the time.
However, witnesses at the scene of the accident told police that he was having trouble backing his truck out into Newton Bridge Road. He exited his truck and attempted to look at the roadway so that he could discern how he could back up. When he was crossing back to his vehicle, he was suddenly struck by the driver of a 2008 Chevy Impala.
The man in the Impala was identified as a 53-year-old. He stayed at the scene to cooperate with police.
At this time, the investigation into the accident is currently ongoing.
