Union City, GA (September 17, 2019) – Union City Police responded to the scene of a car accident around 4:40 p.m. this afternoon, September 17, and led to unspecified injuries.
The accident, according to authorities, took place in the northbound lanes of I-85. Police have not commented on the exact circumstances of the accident but have said that multiple vehicles collided and one or more caught on fire.
Two right lanes of traffic were blocked for quite some time due to the presence of firefighters, multiple police crews, and paramedics. Police requested that those in the area used Highway 29 as an alternate.
Paramedics assisted those with injuries but we do not yet know the extent of these injuries or the current condition of those involved.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
